purchase. In some contexts it is considered a leisure activity as well as an economic one.
Italy is well known for its many Italian products, especially clothes, shoes and bags, are world-famous for their
style and quality. Florence, Milan and Rome are famous as
being some of the most important fashion centers of the world (Milar in particular).
Some places are known for their particular products.
Carrara in Tuscany is one example known for marble. Cremona, in the Lombardy region, is famous for its handmade violins.
Vicenza and Valenza, in the Piedmont region, has a large number of goldsmiths,
where deals can he had for all sorts of jewelry. Sulmona, in Abruzzo, produces ‘confetti’ and the sugar-coated almonds used in Italy for wedding
celebrations. Ravenna,in the Emilia-Romagna region, is famous for mosaics and Volterra, in the Tuscany area, for its alabaster goods.
Rome: Designer names are focused around the fashionable Via Condotti area. Old books of all sorts and art prints can be purchased
from bookstalls of Piazza Borghese.
Rome’s flea market in Porta Portese in the Trastevere area is on Sunday mornings.
Venice: Famous for its glassware made on the island of Murano, where art dealers
and skillful goldsmiths also gather to sell their goods.
Florence: Boasts some of the finest goldsmiths, selling from shops all around the Ponte Vecchio area. Florentine jewelry has a particular quality of
satin finish called satinato.
